Rumorville: Rumors are growing stronger that ABC has received offers from other networks to purchase All My Children and One Life To Live and has declined to sell both shows. This, despite their previous, public, assurances that they would be more than willing to sell the two productions. If true, the question is why?
Some
say it is because they don't want egg on their face should these shows
go on to success elsewhere. Others say that they want to keep the shows
(OLTL in particular) ... Continue reading ...
GH: Nancy Lee Grahn Optimistic
Posted by ghhshirley on Saturday, May 21, 2011,
Nancy Lee Grahn is full of optimism regarding the head writer switch. Here is a composite of her tweets, with minor editing for clarity:"As soon as the new stuff kicks in it's going to be much better, hopefully there will be something for everyone. I think it'll be great. You've no idea how much faith I have in this new shift at GH. Come aboard. We've aborted North Atlantic, gotten off the Titanic, and aboard the Love Boat.""I knew about Ingo [Rademacher]. He's my friend and I love him. [His ... Continue reading ...
GH: Guza's Reaction
Rumorville: Word is that it was General Hospital's Executive Producer, Jill Farren Phelps, rather that ABC Daytime head Brian Frons, who was the bearer of the bad news to Guza. Supposedly, Guza stormed out of the ABC offices right then and there. This may be where the, "effective immediately", came from in the ABC press release regarding the change in head writers, as well as the lack of public thank you's for Guza's contributions to the show. from consumers to pull ads. Insiders are pointing at Frons, with
whispers he may be in his final days. And

We're very proud of them and have big plans for the future." --Brian Frons, December 2009, TV Guide Magazine (after CBS announced that, "As The Word Turns", had been canceled.)"Soap fans should take some comfort in knowing that, 'General Hospital', will not be affected by the changes and, in fact, should remain on ABC for a “long, long time.” --Brian Frons, April 2011, Entertainment Weekly (afte... Katie Couric to Replace ABC Soap?
Rumorville: "....sources indicate there’s
a strong chance that ABC will put a network daytime slot on the table
when the bidding for [Katie Couric's new talk show] begins in earnest as she sets her segue from
The CBS Evening News. It’s no secret that ABC intends to pare down its three-hour slate of daytime sudsers (All My Children, General Hospital and One Life to Live)
in the coming years."
"A Couric show could be a high-profile transition
for the Alphabet in one of the time slots ... Continue reading ...

AMC & OLTL Be Canceled?
Rumorville: The buzz is that ABC is not just planning to cancel All My Children in the coming days but will very likely cancel One Life to Live, as
well. According to TVGuide, word is that ABC Daytime chief Brian Frons has a talk show and
reality show lined up for fall — both of them much cheaper to produce
than soaps — and he needs to clear the schedule. More disturbing,
insiders say Frons has been extremely cavalier about all this, showing
no signs of sorrow or regret about a dra... Continue reading ...
