Rumorville: Word from Deadline Hollywood is that Sony TV is planning to bring in a number of actors from AMC and OLTL to join its two daytime dramas, NBC's Days of Our Lives and CBS' The Young & the Restless. Names that have been mentioned are AMC's Debbi Morgan and Jacob Young, and OLTL's Gina Tognoni and Josh Kelly.
Supposedly Sony Pictures TV president Steve Mosko is behind the plan. When the AMC and OLTL's cancellations were made official earlier this month, he sprung into action, starting consultations with his top daytime executive Steve Kent and Days co-creator/exec producer Ken Corday and Y&R co-creator/exec producer Bill Bell about which actors from the departing ABC shows would strengthen the talent roster on the two soaps.
As previously noted in the GHH News section, Y&R recently recruited another former star of an ABC soap, General Hospital's Genie Francis, who starts as a new regular at the end of May.
Another and less likely scenario, from a separate source, has it that Sony is actually buying the rights to All My Children and One Life to Live and that they want to
get the most popular fan favorites on contract first, before anything
else goes through. Gossip has it that NBC is going to air the shows in daytime and on Comcast
online. Sony is planning on making AMC and OLTL more
viable by marketing them in a package with the other Sony soaps
overseas. Believe it....or not!
