Leslie Charleson tweeted the following this weekend:
"You may have heard from some of my cast mates that I was contacted by GH regarding my "availability". That's true, however, the reason you haven't heard anything about it directly from me is that I wanted to make sure that "Monica" was going to have scenes worth talking about before saying anything to you. With Guza gone, I'm hopeful and will keep you posted as soon as I know anything worth sharing."
Lending further credence to what we have heard about Katie Couric being headed for Oprah's syndicated affiliate slot, as opposed to General Hospital's time slot, theLA Timesreports that, Disney Chief Executive Robert A. Iger has been "very involved" in the deal and has been particularly interested in bringing Couric to ABC, in part, to fill the programming void that will be created by the departure of the queen of daytime TV, Oprah Winfrey. Disney's ABC-owned stations carry The Oprah Winfre... Continue reading ...
Nancy Lee Grahn is full of optimism regarding the head writer switch. Here is a composite of her tweets, with minor editing for clarity:
"As soon as the new stuff kicks in it's going to be much better, hopefully there will be something for everyone. I think it'll be great. You've no idea how much faith I have in this new shift at GH. Come aboard. We've aborted North Atlantic, gotten off the Titanic, and aboard the Love Boat."
Rumorville: Word is that it was General Hospital's Executive Producer, Jill Farren Phelps, rather that ABC Daytime head Brian Frons, who was the bearer of the bad news to Guza. Supposedly, Guza stormed out of the ABC offices right then and there. This may be where the, "effective immediately", came from in the ABC press release regarding the change in head writers, as well as the lack of public thank you's for Guza's contributions to the show.
Karen Harris (former GH writer, let go by GH in 2010, friend of Bob Guza), "I
walked the picket lines with a whole bunch of terrific writers. Garin
[Wolf] quit the WGA [Writer's Guild of America] so he could scab. This
is his reward. I'm sad, because there are others there who are better
writers and deserve it more."
Brenda Lunsford Lilly (former TV Writer, but not for GH), "For
you fans who don't understand the politics of this -his crossing the
picket line against his co- writers ... Continue reading ...

Rumorville: As we've previously reported (see two related articles below) , Couric is close to signing a $20 million deal with ABC for a daytime
talk show as well as a significant role at ABC News. Now, TMZ is speculating that Couric's one-hour
syndicated show could possibly premiere in September 2012 in General Hospital's current time slot. OR...that Couric could replace one of ABC's upcoming lifestyle shows, should either fail. Both shows are replacing ABC's axed soaps, AMC and OLTL.
