If you want to understand Romney's game plan, just look at what Republicans have been doing in Congress.
It was tempting to dismiss Mitt Romney's hard-right turn during the GOP primaries as calculated pandering. In the general election – as one of his top advisers famously suggested – Romney would simply shake the old Etch A Sketch and recast himself as the centrist who governed Massachusetts. But with the selection of vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan, the shape-shifting Romney has lock... Continue reading ...
I would call myself, if I had to pick a label, a social libertarian, fiscal moderate, and an ecological conservative. I am put off by big-government meddling into people's private lives, excessive spending on wars without funding, and government subsidies to oil corporations who are making record profits while my gas prices remain high and Wall Street speculators make out like bandits.
I am frustrated by the waste of my tax dollars on the burgeoning prison industry, the failed War on Drugs, t... Continue reading ...
Though oil demand is at its lowest since 1997, oil prices (and gas prices along with them) are once again on the rise and the GOP wants even more handouts to Big Oil.
Analysts project that gas prices will top $4 a gallon nationally and perhaps reach record highs later this year. Despite relatively low demand and surging production levels in the U.S., prices are rising due to a variety of factors, including instability in the Middle East, but even more so, unregulated Wall Street speculation... If the video clip below doesn't illustrate just how out of touch Mitt Romney is with the anger and everyday struggles of middle class Americans and the working poor, I don't know what would. TheTwoHundredMillionDollarMan aka MrOnePercent just doesn't get it.
The fact is, that the 1% profited off of the global financial collapse and recession brought on by their own irresponsibility-- with the help of the deregulation championed by the Republicans over the last thirty years-- handsomely. In ... Continue reading ...
Do you know who Elizabeth Duke is? How about Donald Kohn or Kevin Warsh? No? Well - you should. Because while Congress was debating back in 2008 whether or not to bailout Banksters with a $700 billion blank check - these guys and girls were just doing it. They were funneling $7.7 trillion to Wall Street under the table - without one constituent phone call - without worrying about one election - without having to give one explanation. It is time that we essentially take the power of our moneta... On the evening of November 17th, tens of thousands of Occupy Wall Street protesters marched throughout New York City, many making their way on to the Brooklyn Bridge, carrying LED candles and chanting. As Occupiers took the bridge in a seemingly endless sea of people, words in light appeared projected on the iconic Verizon Building nearby.
A few hours later, creater Mark Read, who organized the "bat-signal" project, told Boing Boingwhy and how he did this, and what technology he used:
Captain Raymond Lewis, featured in two of our previous videos, below, was arrested this afternoon in NYC during the Occupy protests. Thus far today, over 175 people have been arrested and several injuries have been reported. Bloodied protesters were seen being led away by police. The estimate by those on the ground in the afternoon was that 5000 protesters were currently involved. That number was expected to swell as people got off work. By late in the evening. 35,000 protesters were said ... Continue reading ...
Thousands of Occupy Wall Street protesters streamed back into Zuccotti Park late Tuesday, November 15th, less than 24 hours after police forcibly removed them from their camp. Among the more than 200 people arrested earlier that morning was Ydanis Rodriguez, a New York City Council member. He was there advocating for his constituents, as were other council members at the time of the raid. City Council Member Jumaane Williams tweeted that his fellow city council member, Rodriguez, was hit by ... Continue reading ...

According to a new Pew Research/Washington Post
poll, nearly 40 percent of Americans support the Occupy Wall Street movement. In contrast, only 32 percent of Americans support the Tea Party movement. Conversely, while 44 percent oppose the Tea Party movement, just 35 percent oppose the Occupy movement.
Politicians jockeying for the Independent vote in 2012 may want to take note that more Independents support the Occupy Wall Street movement than do not: 43% support the movement and 35% are oppo... Continue reading ...

For your consideration: In order to ensure a continuation of our Democratic Republic, is it time for a constitutional amendment to take the money out of politics?
*The police are arresting anyone that uses a megaphone or any voice amplifying device. This is why the crowd were repeating what was being said so a wider audience there could hear what he had to say.
