If you want to understand Romney's game plan, just look at what Republicans have been doing in Congress.
It was tempting to dismiss Mitt Romney's hard-right turn during the GOP primaries as calculated pandering. In the general election – as one of his top advisers famously suggested – Romney would simply shake the old Etch A Sketch and recast himself as the centrist who governed Massachusetts. But with the selection of vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan, the shape-shifting Romney has lock... Continue reading ...
It was tempting to dismiss Mitt Romney's hard-right turn during the GOP primaries as calculated pandering. In the general election – as one of his top advisers famously suggested – Romney would simply shake the old Etch A Sketch and recast himself as the centrist who governed Massachusetts. But with the selection of vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan, the shape-shifting Romney has locked into focus – cementing himself as the frontman for the far-right partisan... Continue reading ...
Over the past 30 weeks, Mitt Romney has told lie after lie after lie, 533 lies in all. This list, below, was compiled by Fred Clark, an evangelical blogger:
Extreme positions are no longer contained in the party's fringe but have been elevated to the top of the Republican ticket with the selection of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney's running mate. As further proof, on Tuesday, August 21st, the Republican Platform Committee voted to include as part of their platform the support of an amendment that would ban abortion WITH NO EXCEPTIONS in cases of rape or incest, including when the life of the mother is at stake. That piece of anti-women legislation is r... Continue reading ...
Long before he became one of the right’s most vocal critics of the idea that government spending could help boost the flagging economy, Mitt Romney's choice for his Republican Presidential running mate, Representative Paul Ryan offered a forceful, full-throated defense of stimulus spending — when then-President George W. Bush wanted it in 2002.
Ryan has denounced the 2009 Recovery Act signed by President Obama as “a wasteful spending spree” and “failed neo-Keynesian experiment,” an... Continue reading ...
One Term More! A time to celebrate democracy,
Repeal Republican hypocrisy.
This man who would unseat Barack's
A bleak choice at the ballot box. One Term More!
A G.O.P. perdition-bound,
All sense of right & wrong eroded. One Term More!
With laws that let 'em stand their ground,
Republicans are locked & loaded.
Contraception's now a sin,
Screwing G.M. in the clutch.
Incivility's a virtue,
Homophobic. Out of touch.
Filibusters. Budget scrums.
Ultrasounds & speculums.

So what does it all mean for you and your family? Check out this simpleOnline Tax Calculator—enter your income and see the difference for middle-class Americans. To make it more interesting, compare your results to someone making 1.5 million dollars a year.
Robert B. Reich isChancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley and was Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration. Time Magazine named him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the last century. He has written thirteen books, including the best sellers “Aftershock" and “The Work of Nations." His latest is an e-book, “Beyond Outrage.” I have posted several of his informative videos before.
Judge Richard Posner, a prominent and highly respected conservative who was appointed by Ronald Reagan, didn't hold back after observing the conservative backlash over Supreme Court Justice Roberts’ opinion upholding President Barack Obama’s health care law.:
"Because if you put [yourself] in his [Robert's] position
... what's he supposed to think? That he finds his allies to be a bunch
of crackpots? Does that help the conservative movement? I mean, what
would you do if you were Rober... Continue reading ...

Michigan State Reps. Lisa Brown, D-West Bloomfield, and Barb Byrum, D-Onondaga, were told today by GOP floor leader R-John Stamas that they wouldn’t be recognized to publicly speak on any matters before the House.
This was after their impassioned attempt to speak out on the floor against abortion bills that not only severely limit the Constitutional right of a woman to obtain an abortion, but actually puts a woman's life at risk! One of the Reps also wondered aloud why is it that only the Ch... Continue reading ...
The
nation is still recovering from a crushing recession that sent
unemployment hovering above nine percent for two straight years. The
president, mindful of soaring deficits, is pushing bold action to shore
up the nation's balance sheet. Cloaking himself in the language of class
warfare, he calls on a hostile Congress to end wasteful tax breaks for
the rich.
"We're going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share," h... Continue reading ...
Mitt Romney likes to tout his business experience as a valuable asset that he could use in the Executive Office to get this economy "going again". The questions you must ask yourself are, "going where, going for whom, and is Romney's brand of expertise the kind of business experience that is going to help all Americans?"

Not only does Mitt Romney have no problem hiding his tax returns from voters, but he also has reasons to hide his tax returns from voters.
A blind trust is not a blind trust when there is direct or indirect control over investment decisions. While Romney has nominally placed his investments in a trust which is managed by someone else, the person he has chosen to manage those investments is his close associate and personal atto...

Welcome to "Trickle Down Tales", where all your economic questions will be answered:
Plus, Austerity & Neo-Nazis, Oh my!
Despite what conservatives would have you believe, the economy is not like an indebted family. Our economic debt is mostly money we owe to each other; even more important, our income mostly comes from selling things to each other. Your spending is my income, and my spending is yo... By the time Mitt Romney left office as
Governor of Massachusetts, the state had the highest state deficit (debt
per person) of any state in the nation, and ranked 47th in job
creation. Does anyone really believe he would do better as President?
Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm, Former Governor of Michigan, calls Mitt Romney out on his taking credit for saving America's Auto Industry, and declares him unfit to be President of the United States.
This video seems to complement my previous article, just below, perfectly. These women repeat word for word the recent quotes of Republicans who are currently running for office and those involved in their campaigns, GOP elected officials past and present, and Conservative talking heads. Pay attention to the name of each person being quoted; it appears onscreen as their own words are heard through the voice of a woman.
I would call myself, if I had to pick a label, a social libertarian, fiscal moderate, and an ecological conservative. I am put off by big-government meddling into people's private lives, excessive spending on wars without funding, and government subsidies to oil corporations who are making record profits while my gas prices remain high and Wall Street speculators make out like bandits.
I am frustrated by the waste of my tax dollars on the burgeoning prison industry, the failed War on Drugs, t... Continue reading ...
The chart below tracks job growth under President Obama. Use your cursor by hovering over the circles on the chart to see each action that President Obama undertook that led directly to job creation in the private sector Hover beneath the vertical bars to see exactly how many jobs were added when. Obviously, we still have a long way to go, but the fact remains that Obama's initiatives have created an environment that is conducive to successful job growth.
If the video clip below doesn't illustrate just how out of touch Mitt Romney is with the anger and everyday struggles of middle class Americans and the working poor, I don't know what would. TheTwoHundredMillionDollarMan aka MrOnePercent just doesn't get it.
The fact is, that the 1% profited off of the global financial collapse and recession brought on by their own irresponsibility-- with the help of the deregulation championed by the Republicans over the last thirty years-- handsomely. In ... Continue reading ...
An investigative report by ABC reveals that Republican Presidential Primary candidate Mitt Romney, who I have dubbed #TheTwoHundredMillionDollarMan on twitter, has avoided paying his fair share of taxes by hiding his money in off-shore accounts in the Cayman Islands and elsewhere. Is it any wonder that he continues to refuse to release his income tax records as is the tradition of those running for the Executive Office of this nation? Watch:
Little Suzie Newsykins is learning all about picking the Republican nominee for president. She'll take you through the process of choosing Newt Gingrich as the GOP star!
Congressman Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) appeared on the premiere of The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur on CurrentTV. Grayson spoke in favor of extending the payroll tax cut for the middle class, against which the Republican leadership in Congress is still fighting as of today. The interview took place on December 5, 2011.

Only the wealthy would benefit from GOP Presidential Primary Candidate Herman Cain's 9-9-9 plan.
The Tax Policy Center has released its analysis of Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan, and it finds that the only people who would benefit from it are those making more than $200,000 a year.Everyone else, especially the poor, would pay more. And the middle class would now have the highest effective federal tax rate.
Those making $1 million a year or more would get a tax cut of nearly $500,000, a 15% change... Continue reading ...
