The following was written byRobert B Reich, former Secretary of Labor in the
Clinton administration, Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the
University of California at Berkeley:
I
hope the President starts negotiations over a “grand bargain” for
deficit reduction by aiming high. After all, he won the election. And if
the past four years has proven anything it’s that the White House
should not begin with a compromise.
Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News last night after Obama's win, “...this is not a mandate in the number [of electoral votes]...”
Fox News repeated the "no mandate" line several times throughout the night after the results came in.
Twitter was ablaze with comments from the right echoing the "he has no mandate" refrain.
Herman Caine tweeted that, "Obama won on Popularity", as if that were a bad thing. Apparently, Mr. Caine is unaware of how elections work.
Over the past 30 weeks, Mitt Romney has told lie after lie after lie, 533 lies in all. This list, below, was compiled by Fred Clark, an evangelical blogger:
President Michael D. Higgins, of Ireland, is fed up with over-the-top Tea Party rhetoric, and he isn't afraid to show it. Listen to him call out radio host Michael Graham, from Newstalk 106-108fm, on everything from health care to foreign policy in this heated exchange from 2010. This one is too good to pass up.
Long before he became one of the right’s most vocal critics of the idea that government spending could help boost the flagging economy, Mitt Romney's choice for his Republican Presidential running mate, Representative Paul Ryan offered a forceful, full-throated defense of stimulus spending — when then-President George W. Bush wanted it in 2002.
Ryan has denounced the 2009 Recovery Act signed by President Obama as “a wasteful spending spree” and “failed neo-Keynesian experiment,” an... Continue reading ...
One Term More! A time to celebrate democracy,
Repeal Republican hypocrisy.
This man who would unseat Barack's
A bleak choice at the ballot box. One Term More!
A G.O.P. perdition-bound,
All sense of right & wrong eroded. One Term More!
With laws that let 'em stand their ground,
Republicans are locked & loaded.
Contraception's now a sin,
Screwing G.M. in the clutch.
Incivility's a virtue,
Homophobic. Out of touch.
Filibusters. Budget scrums.
Ultrasounds & speculums.

Judge Richard Posner, a prominent and highly respected conservative who was appointed by Ronald Reagan, didn't hold back after observing the conservative backlash over Supreme Court Justice Roberts’ opinion upholding President Barack Obama’s health care law.:
"Because if you put [yourself] in his [Robert's] position
... what's he supposed to think? That he finds his allies to be a bunch
of crackpots? Does that help the conservative movement? I mean, what
would you do if you were Rober... Continue reading ...

Democrats saved the Private Sector when it was collapsing and it has returned to—and exceeded—2008 levels of employment.
Republicans have been true to their word and are drowning Public Sector workers in the bathtub of their policies at the expense of our overall economic and job recovery.
The country cannot enjoy a robust economy if the predominance of the nation's wealth is being hoarded in bank accounts by the Private Sector and not put back into circulation into the economy that allowed... Continue reading ...
The
nation is still recovering from a crushing recession that sent
unemployment hovering above nine percent for two straight years. The
president, mindful of soaring deficits, is pushing bold action to shore
up the nation's balance sheet. Cloaking himself in the language of class
warfare, he calls on a hostile Congress to end wasteful tax breaks for
the rich.
"We're going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share," h... Continue reading ...
Mitt Romney likes to tout his business experience as a valuable asset that he could use in the Executive Office to get this economy "going again". The questions you must ask yourself are, "going where, going for whom, and is Romney's brand of expertise the kind of business experience that is going to help all Americans?"

Plus, Austerity & Neo-Nazis, Oh my!
Despite what conservatives would have you believe, the economy is not like an indebted family. Our economic debt is mostly money we owe to each other; even more important, our income mostly comes from selling things to each other. Your spending is my income, and my spending is yo... By the time Mitt Romney left office as
Governor of Massachusetts, the state had the highest state deficit (debt
per person) of any state in the nation, and ranked 47th in job
creation. Does anyone really believe he would do better as President?
According to Michael Linden,
Director for Tax and Budget Policy, Federal spending is lower now than
it was when President Obama took office. Linden shared the following in a
recent column:
In January 2009, before President Obama had even
taken the oath of office, annual spending was set to total 24.9 percent
of gross domestic product. Total spending this year, fiscal year 2012,
is expected to top out at 23.4 percent of GDP.
Here’s another
interesting fact. Taxes today are lower than th... Continue reading ...
Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm, Former Governor of Michigan, calls Mitt Romney out on his taking credit for saving America's Auto Industry, and declares him unfit to be President of the United States.
Though oil demand is at its lowest since 1997, oil prices (and gas prices along with them) are once again on the rise and the GOP wants even more handouts to Big Oil.
Analysts project that gas prices will top $4 a gallon nationally and perhaps reach record highs later this year. Despite relatively low demand and surging production levels in the U.S., prices are rising due to a variety of factors, including instability in the Middle East, but even more so, unregulated Wall Street speculation... The chart below tracks job growth under President Obama. Use your cursor by hovering over the circles on the chart to see each action that President Obama undertook that led directly to job creation in the private sector Hover beneath the vertical bars to see exactly how many jobs were added when. Obviously, we still have a long way to go, but the fact remains that Obama's initiatives have created an environment that is conducive to successful job growth.
If the video clip below doesn't illustrate just how out of touch Mitt Romney is with the anger and everyday struggles of middle class Americans and the working poor, I don't know what would. TheTwoHundredMillionDollarMan aka MrOnePercent just doesn't get it.
The fact is, that the 1% profited off of the global financial collapse and recession brought on by their own irresponsibility-- with the help of the deregulation championed by the Republicans over the last thirty years-- handsomely. In ... Continue reading ...
According to a new Pew Research/Washington Post
poll, nearly 40 percent of Americans support the Occupy Wall Street movement. In contrast, only 32 percent of Americans support the Tea Party movement. Conversely, while 44 percent oppose the Tea Party movement, just 35 percent oppose the Occupy movement.
Politicians jockeying for the Independent vote in 2012 may want to take note that more Independents support the Occupy Wall Street movement than do not: 43% support the movement and 35% are oppo... Continue reading ...
